Gene is a registered architect in Arizona, holds a LEED AP BD+C credential and NCARB certificate, the latter which facilitates prompt architectural registration in other most states in the US.

As a Principal, Gene will lead the Residential projects team, with an emphasis on designing large scale, luxury residences along with some commercial projects as well. We are thrilled to have his tremendous leadership and design experience on board!

Gene was born in Illinois, and moved to Tucson, Arizona at the age of nine, where his father purchased a machine/fabrication shop. After graduating from University High School in Tucson, he attended the College of Architecture at the University of Arizona, graduating with a Bachelor of Architecture. Following his Bachelors, Gene was accepted to the Master of Architecture program at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, having developed a friendship with the former Director of the Design Studio at the School of Architecture. After graduating from Illinois, he relocated to Phoenix, working at three well-respected Valley architectural firms before starting Spiral Architects in late 2013 –  an award-winning custom residential architectural design firm that offered residential architectural design services at the highest level to clients in Scottsdale, Paradise Valley, Phoenix, and Tucson. Gene was awarded both a Arizona Governor’s Heritage Preservation award in 2017 and 2018 Gold Nugget Award of Merit for his work renovating the former Louise E. Glaus residence in Paradise Valley, and made the 2019 Luxe Magazine Gold List, for a new Spanish Colonial residence in Silverleaf.

A strong believer in regionally appropriate traditional architecture, Gene believes that simplicity and restraint are among the hallmarks of excellent and lasting design.

PHX is thrilled to welcome Gene to the PHX Family, and we look forward to seeing everything that he accomplishes!
