SPECIAL SECTION: Atllas Hopkins

Atllas Hopkins began his journey with PHX ARCHITECTURE as a participant in their design camp the summer before starting his architecture studies at Arizona State University. Following his first semester, he briefly interned at the office during winter break. Shortly after, the world faced a global pandemic, but Atllas remained in contact with the firm throughout that period. His dedication led to another internship opportunity, which he continued for the remainder of his undergraduate experience.

During this time, Atllas took significant steps toward both personal and professional growth. He served as Vice President and later President of his fraternity’s executive board, and he founded SEED Philanthropy—the world’s first all-African American youth philanthropic group. SEED empowers students aged 16–21 to engage in community service and raise thousands of dollars annually to support local student-led or student-based nonprofits.

In addition, Atllas launched his own design house for media and clothing, “SOULJAISM,” all while actively participating in various communities and initiatives—and managing a full-time course load as a design student. After earning his undergraduate degree in 2023, he immediately enrolled in ASU’s Master of Architecture program, from which he graduated this spring.

Atllas attributes much of his success, confidence, and skill development to the mentorship and professional exposure he received at PHX ARCHITECTURE. His experience helped him build a strong technical foundation, apply classroom knowledge in real-world settings, gain insight into the architectural profession, and grow as both a creative and a designer.

As he graduates with his master’s degree, Atllas is set to begin his journey as a full-time Architectural Associate I this summer. We’re proud to welcome him into this new chapter and are thrilled to keep him as part of the PHX family. He’s excited to embrace the opportunities and challenges ahead!
