PHX President, Erik Peterson and Marketing Director, Shae Fanning attended Modernism 2022 in February, a long standing wish list item which has been delayed for the past several years due to COVID. We can honestly say it was everything we expected and more! Modernism Week is an annual event held in Palm Springs every year. Designers from all over the world attend, with a high number attending from Los Angeles, Orange County and Palm Springs. We began the trip by attending the Modernism Week kick off party that took place at Indian Canyon Country Club. The event was highly attended and we ran into LA friends and contacts that we hadn’t seen since the beginning of the pandemic! It was a great way to kick off the week.
On Friday – we had a full day of events lined up. We attended a lecture at the Palm Springs Art Museum on famous Architect, Bill Cody. Following that we had brunch hosted by our good friends over at Cambria at the historic Tennis Club in downtown Palm Springs. That night we attended a Fireside Happy Hour with industry professionals hosted by Dugally Oberfeld, followed by a Modernism Show & Sale at the Palm Springs Convention center. We were able to view different products, brands, furniture lines and more. We saw our new friends and industry extraordinaire Moyra’s collection of powder coated steel cabinetry – which was one of the most successful booths at the show. Make sure to check her out!
On Saturday – we packed as much in as possible. Kicking things off with a walking tour of several of the most iconic, boutique resorts in downtown Palm Springs. Following this, Erik and Shae toured the Lautner Compound, followed by a short self-guided tour of some of Palm Springs most stunning Golf Club Estates. Directly following that tour – Erik and Shae attended the Ferguson Design Panel hosted at the new Hotel Limon. The panel included six designers including, Breegan Jane – who our firm has gotten to know over the past year.
Following the panel – began the evening soirees. The first party was at Frank Sinatra’s estate – and let’s just say WOW – what an incredible experience. Party attendees got the chance to tour the entire home, and then grab a cocktail and chat around the resort style pool. Directly after – was the S.I.A party (Saving Iconic Architecture) which was hosted at a home partially owned by Leonardo DiCaprio – so as you can imagine, the home was stunning – and was the perfect way to wrap up our firm’s first time attending Modernism Week.
Directly following Modernism week – Erik headed to the 2022 CMAA World Conference in San Diego where he accepted two Boardroom Magazine Excellence In Design Awards for PHX’s complete body of Clubhouse work throughout 2021.
Erik also got to mix and mingle with Crystal – Director of the CMAA Golden State Chapter, which PHX is a sponsor of; as well as Joe Bark – Managing Editor at Club Resort & Business Magazine and several of our Clubhouse clients including Mirabel General Manager – Marcie Mills!
