New Project Spotlight: PHX Set to Design Clubhouse for Mickelson National

This project is one that we have been wanting to share for a while! We are excited to announce that PHX has been selected to design the Clubhouse of the highly anticipated, Mickelson National Golf Club in Calgary, Canada. Mickelson National has been highly buzzed about for months in the Golf world and even more so now since its grand opening on June 1. The golf course is the first signature Mickelson designed course in Canada, situated minutes west of Calgary. The club is located in the Harmony Community, which is an upscale living community. Stretching over 240 acres the private world-class course set a new benchmark for Club’s to aspire to the moment it debuted.

With many talking about the course since its opening- Windmill Golf Group, Barry Ehlert has kept the buzz going, announcing that it is set to break ground on the Golf Club’s new state-of-the-art Clubhouse, designed by PHX. This is the first Clubhouse we have designed in Canada, however this is the third project we have done in collaboration with Phil Mickelson (McDowell Mountain Golf Club, Stone Canyon Clubhouse). With an already outstanding working relationship with Mickelson’s team including Mike Angus and Steve “Coach” Loy, PHX is excited to have the opportunity to work with them again. Our Clubhouse design features an aesthetic that will compliment the course and rolling hills that surround it. The Clubhouse will be two levels. The upper level will include a large bar area for members to mix and mingle alongside an upscale lounge and foyer area. Also included in the design is a private dining room and an additional eatery concept fittingly named, Phil’s Grill. The lower level will house the men’s and women’s lockerooms as well as a lounge area and cart barn. The main Developer on the project is Qualico. PHX is teaming up with Peter Maat of Wilco Contractors Southwest and local Calgary Architect Richard Davignon on the Club’s design.

It is an honor to work on a project with this amount of prestige and anticipation surrounding it. We hope to have this project under construction by end of year!
