Tyler Elwell is originally from Annapolis, Maryland but grew up in San Diego, California. After taking an introductory CAD course in high school, he knew that architecture was the profession he wanted to pursue. May 2018, Tyler graduated from The University of Arizona with a Bachelors of Architecture. While getting his education, Tyler also had the invaluable experience of spending two years interning at Pacific Cornerstone Architects in San Diego. Shortly after graduation, Tyler accepted a position with us here at PHX, and we are so happy to have him on board!
Tyler credits the great design minds of Carlos Scarpa, Richard Rogers, and Herzog & de Meuron for shaping his architectural style and craft. Graphically, Tyler draws inspiration from Design Distill partner Alex Hogrefe. Recently, Tyler has taken on PHX’s virtual reality efforts, often creating the 3D videos himself that our firm later shows to clients. Already, an integral part of the PHX residential design team, Tyler hopes to achieve his architectural license in the coming years and continue to learn and grow as a member of the PHX family.
Outside of architecture, Tyler is an avid runner – having ran track and field and cross country and playing soccer in high school. He is also a proud Eagle Scout and technology enthusiast. Tyler enjoys traveling and last year, spent three and a half months studying aboard in Italy and the U.K. taking in all of the incredible architecture those ancient cities have to offer. Tyler also enjoys golfing, photography, and video games.
