Esteban is currently a designer at PHX, contributing to the design and construction documentation of PHX’s notable hospitality projects throughout the Southwest, including California and Nevada. Recently Esteban has working with his mentor, PHX team member Maurita Harris, on the design of a tennis facility in his home town of Corona, California – bringing everything full circle!
Esteban received his Bachelor’s degree in Liberal Arts from California State San Bernardino, and his Master’s in Architecture from Arizona State University. Prior to pursuing a career in Architecture, Esteban became a teacher, something that he still loves to do today in his current role as an active community member. Esteban participates in several mentorship programs with AZ Kids Build, ASU and also is one of our mentors at PHX’s annual summer camp.
Esteban credits a couple experiences with really shaping the way he approaches design. Mainly his studio trips to Japan and Mexico, where he had the incredible chance to explore structures built by Toyo Ito, Tadao Ando, Sou Fujmoto, Sanaa and luis Barragan. Throughout his career, Esteban is passionate about how design, culture, people, nature, art and sustainable architecture and poetics all intersect – something he wants to continue to learn more about as he furthers his career.
