Do you have an eagerness to learn more about what an architect does on a daily basis? Do you have a passion for Architecture and design? If you answered yes, PHX Architecture Summer Camp is the place to be! Summer time is one of our favorite times around the PHX office and that is because each year, we hold a very special 2-week long camp for students between the ages of 13-18 who are interested in architecture! This year will mark our 10th year of this one of a kind Summer Camp and we have so many fun activities planned with more in the works!
Students thinking of going into the field of Architecture will be given a fully immersive experience that in words of past ‘campers’ is “Awesome!” This year’s program will run from June 5th through June 15th T-F from 9am-2:30pm. The two week long camp offers an opportunity to learn more about a career in architecture. ‘Campers’ will be introduced to the many aspects of the architectural field and get to learn from the unique and diverse staff of talented professionals that make up PHX Architecture.
Camp attendees will gain knowledge about space planning, designing a project, business strategies and the history behind the industry, as well as, gain exposure to the basics of Hand Rendering, 3D Modeling and Drafting and Photoshop/InDesign. Students can use their own laptop, or we will provide one, to download the latest 3D software to create a project model with the help of the PHX team. Camp will also provide a daily lunch and tours of Taliesin West, ASU School of Architecture and a residential/commercial project under construction. This comprehensive, hands-on learning experience will expose ‘campers’ to what they need in order to decide whether this career path is for them!
Upon completion, past ‘campers’ have moved on to intern at the firm and/or enroll in college Architecture programs continuing their goal of becoming an architect. The team at PHX agree that they get as much out of the program as the ‘campers’ themselves and are always impressed with the curiosity, talent and potential of each participant.
