With energy costs through the roof and environmental concerns on the rise, the need to conserve energy in residential and commercial building is growing. Desert Skies Energy, located here in the Valley, has worked with PHX on numerous designs in an effort to make homes more energy efficient. Energy improvements on your home early, lead to a big pay off down the road. Desert Skies works with architects, builders, and homeowners during the design process to consult on building materials, design improvements for better green quality, proper placement of duct systems, and code compliance. Keeping energy efficiency in mind early on can increase your homes value.
Stephen and Desert Skies are also active supporters of our Summer Camp. Stephen has come in to teach various classes on energy conservation practices and provided hands-on activities for our student. We appreciate all your help!
PHX and Desert Skies are teaming up on a sustainable home design competition. In partnership with the AIA, The City of Phoenix is hosting the Sustainable Home Design Competition in an effort to promote net-positive energy use in new buildings by 2050. Architects and consultants are invited to design a single-story 1,800 – 2,400 square foot home that meets energy requirements while still keeping it affordable, unique, and practical. The PHX Team of Adam Kostis, Scott Carson, and Stuart Jon Traynor is teaming up with Steve Mogowski, President of Desert Skies. The design that with the best potential for wide-spread adoption to the Phoenix area will be crowned the winner. We’re excited to see what they come up with and wish them the best of luck!
