Our diverse staff has grown again! We’ve recently welcomed FIVE new members to the PHX team. Two new members are returning staffers from the beginning years of PHX. Kim Smith and Araceli Frausto have joined as Project Managers while Claudio Muñoz Whiting as joined as a Senior Designer + Urban Planner. Javier Medrano-Smith is our new Accounting Assistant and Brad McFarlane joins the design team as the newest Associate I.
Kim Smith has joined PHX as a Project Manager. Kim is originally from Ohio and went to Miami University (no, not University of Miami) for her undergrad, then moved out west and graduated from ASU with her Master’s in Architecture. Kim worked at H&S for about 10 years before staying home to raise her children. During this time she worked on her own doing small remodel and addition jobs. Kim is also the Architectural Consultant for several Design Review communities around the valley.
Araceli Frausto also joined PHX as a Project Manager and was a former employee of PHX (then Peterson) Architecture. Araceli received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degree in Architecture from Arizona State University. Work experience ranges from Hospitality, Multi-Family Housing, Senior Living Communities and Public Work. She is a mom of three boys and one girl and is excited to re-join the PHX Architecture Team.
Javier Medrano-Smith rounds out the front office staff as our Accounting Assistant. Javier recently moved to Phoenix from southern California where he spent six years at software company, Solium, most recently as a Junior Accountant. Javier loves to travel and hangout with his main girl, his dog – Inky Doodles.
Brad McFarlane is local to Arizona and attended Saguaro High School and graduated from the University of Arizona in 2016 with his Bachelors in Architecture. Brad interned with three design firms including Shepley Bulfinch before starting at PHX Architecture. Brad is actively working on projects with our Commercial Team.
We hired our first California team member, Claudio Muñoz Whiting, a previous employee of PHX (then Peterson) Architecture. Claudio was raised in Chile growing up in the capital city of Santiago. He graduated with a Bachelors and Masters in Architecture from the Universidad de Chile in 1998, and worked on commercial and residential projects until he moved to the United States. Claudio attended Arizona State University from 2003 to 2005 where he completed a Master of Urban and Environmental Planning. Claudio mostly enjoys spending his free time with his wife Paloma and son Nicolás. He also enjoys playing soccer, cooking and taking care of their vegetable garden.
We’re excited to be breaking ground on a new True Spec Golf location in New York City. The space will convert an old Emigrant Bank and incorporate the existing marble. True Spec is the top provider of custom club fittings. The new location follows the opening of True Spec Scottsdale. True
PHX’s Erik Peterson and Tom Bell traveled to New York City to attend the first ever Luxe Magazine RED Awards honoring excellence in design. The event was held at the Neuehouse in Madison Square. PHX was honored to receive the award for Classic Architecture in the Arizona region. The amazing project
